Blog? Me? I guess so....

I never thought I would be one to blog. It took me years of pressure from family and friends to even get a Facebook account. But, alas, I am here. My main reason? Fellow recent blogger, friend and amazing/super doggie mommy, Emily of Started with a Pit Bull! I started reading so many amazing dog blogs. I would sit at work and for hours read amazing stories of pit bulls and other dogs.  Sometimes I would cry, sometimes I would laugh out loud, literally and get strange looks. “Why can’t I comment and let them know how much the story touched me?” I complained. Aside from that, it dawned on me that the same reasoning I was bugging Emily (“share your silly and great dog stories with the world!”) to start a blog, maybe I should, too. So, here I am.

I have two amazing little girls, and of course, they have four legs. They are both Queensland Heelers and are the loves of my life. My boyfriend, Mick and I live with them in Phoenix, Arizona.
I guess the next step is to explain why I named my blog Two Heeler Butts. Weird, huh? Well, not if you have met my girls!

It started in October of 2008 when my boyfriend’s coworker was looking for a home for his dog. Why he decided to get rid of this amazing dog, I will never know, but I will never be more grateful, either. My amazing boyfriend knew how much I loved dogs and was still devastated that months after moving in together we had not gotten a pooch of our own yet. He said, “We are just going to go meet her, don’t get too excited!”
We walked in and I saw her, her big ears and her cute spots and all of her energy got me immediately. She was so excited she started to do this little, circular hop, mainly pushing her butt in the air and hoping around. What made this even more adorable? She has a little, teeny, tiny cropped tail. The cuteness cannot be put into words. I was in love. I knew right then, within the first minute that she was our dog. She was our Sierra. And the little excited butt dance she does when she is excited? That made her our Sierra Butt! She has been with us ever since, and my oh my has it been a ride!

Later, this year we decided that Sierra Butt needed a sister. So we randomly started looking at rescue’s, online ads and where ever a Heeler may have needed a home. We decided on another Heeler because of how amazing of a dog Sierra has been. It just so happens that I was cube mates with the aforementioned Emily’s boyfriend and fellow dog lover, Jay. He was always on Craigslist looking at dogs, and found this cute little Heeler in a Santa hat. February 15th, 2011. He sent me her link, her name was Dita and she was beautiful! I sent the link to my boyfriend. His response? “It’s up to you babe!”
Later that night I went to meet Dita. She stole my heart! Not only did she have a great personality, she ALSO had her own little butt thing! When she gets excited, she gets real close to you, puts her head down and pushes her butt at you just waiting for it to be scratched! Another cute Heeler with a strange fetish with making her butt look cute? I knew she was right for us.
